M7.7 Blog about the agency's role

BLOG:  Choose one of the major federal agencies OTHER THAN THE EPA and identify a way in which the agency has an impact on environmental quality.

I took a look at the Department of Energy to see what information they can provide about climate change. Here is the link to the website: https://www.energy.gov/science-innovation/climate-change

The Department of Energy speaks about the number of changes they are hoping to make in order to improve the lives of all Americans. In order to do so, they are looking at creating domestic renewable energy sources and minimizing the use of fossil fuels. While this seems like a redundant conversation, it seems like more and more individuals are recognizing the effect of climate change on the way we are able to live. It is the hope of the DoE to make large strides to ensure that America remains a leader in the environmental health realm.

  1. This is an interesting department to me because it is not one of the first ones that I think of when thinking about their impact on environmental quality. I like that they are trying to create renewable energy sources and minimizing the use of fossil fuels. I think that many people have solar panels which I believe is a form of renewable energy (correct me if I'm wrong). Many of these sources have a high up front cost but in the long run are better for the environment and save us money.

  2. I think that the DoE is THE agency to champion society's efforts at developing and practicing the use of renewable energy. Collaboration with community members will be needed to help convince the many government officials of the benefits in the long run of renewable energy sources.
